Data Access Control Wizard

The data access control wizard may be invoked during the initial security setup or later on by selecting the command "Setup Data Access Roles" in the Security Menu. All settings can still be edited later on using the corresponding command from the Security Menu.  The data access control wizard guides the administrator in setting up the data access roles and signature comments:

DAC-Wizard Step 1:

The overall data access hierarchy levels need to be selected. This determines how many signature roles will be part of the data access control. The software defaults to 4 levels:

The following steps will define the role name and role description for each hierarchy level:

After defining the role details for each level an overview of the hierarchy setup will be show in step 6. The hierarchy setup may be may be edited by using the button Up and Down:


DAC-Wizard Step 7 - 10:

Detailed access rights for each role can be edited in the following steps. Each step presents an editor for the actual role and its subordinate roles. The access rights for a certain role may vary depending on the position of the role in the hierarchy (e.g. the "Operator" role has limited rights if it is in a subordinate position). Please refer to details in the chapter Data Access Control.

Completing the Data Access control setup

After data access control wizard has completed successfully, the administrator will be prompted to assign the data access roles to individual user to create a working data access control environment:

This may be done immediately or later on via the commands "Manage Users" or "Assign Data Access Roles" in the Security Menu.
